About Me

WHO I AM

ABOUT

I'm Junyu Li

I am a third year Ph.D. student at the Department of Computer Science, University of Warwick. My research focuses on Machine Learning and High-performance Computing (HPC). I received my Master's Degree in Data Analytics and Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science at the University of Warwick and the University of Sheffield respectively.

Objective

The research aims to apply HPC strategies such as utilizing GPUs to accelerate the training process for Deep Neural Networks.

Latest Work

My latest work focuses on solving delayed gradients issue in Asynchronous Stochastic Gradient Descent.

Previous Work

I proposed a real-time individual performance analysis and data pruning mechanism that reduces training consumption but keeps accuracy.

Platform

Pytorch is my favourite platform, where most of the works are based on. Besides, TensorFlow is another one that I used for the rest of time.

My Resume

Experience

  • University of Warwick

I am a seminar and lab tutor for a number of modules, for example, CS133 Professional Skills, CS140 Computer Security, CS260 Algorithm, CS402 High-performance Computing, and CS909 Data Mining during the Ph.D. studying. To be noted that, I was also granted the certification for teaching in higher education from passing related courses at the University of Warwick before doing the works. Such working experience significantly increases my knowledge in different fields, personal attributes and skills including: communication, planning, organising and time management.

  • China Mobile

I was a data analyst working at the Internet Technology Center of China Mobile. With the development of LTE, the quality of content resources becomes an important factor affecting 4G end-to-end perception. My job was to dig into the big data of LTE daily usage information to build a Key Quality Indicators (KQI) and early warning models, so that enhances 4G user perception and experience. The work not only lets me practice a lot on the skills and knowledge gained from my degrees, but also earned a wealth of working experiences such as team working and problem-solving.

Education

  • Ph.D.

Ph.D. research builds me on state of the art knowledge, education and experience in my focused field of Machine Learning and High-performance Computing. It brings me several professional skills, where the vital one is the high-level individual research ability.

  • M.Sc Data Analytics

Master's courses provided me with a distinctive perspective on data analytics that combines aspects of computer science, business, engineering and mathematics. Alongside the technical skills and expertise the course developed, my analytical and critical thinking skills has been dramatically upgraded.

  • B.Sc Computer Science

Undergraduate studies raised me up with awareness of and ability to cope with and adapt to rapid technological changes. I gained a set of specialist knowledge in computer science theories, methods, practices and strategy, and has become pretty experienced in using a range of programming languages such as C/C++.
